What is automatic stability control?

bmwWhat is automatic stability control?
haha, I turn mine off in my 318ti all the time. All it is, is traction control. It just makes certain brakes turn on if it senses your cornering really hard so you keep the best possible traction. What is automatic stability control?
Stability control is more than a traction control, the stability control can modulate each wheel brakes individually, modulates the engine power to prevent spins, possible rollovers and to generally maintain control. The stability control interprets steering position, input from yaw sensor. This feature is especially valuable in low traction situations such as wet or snow covered roads. Rear wheel drive cars such as the BMW would be a handful in the winter without this feature. Most new SUV's now have this feature to help prevent rollovers because of their high center of gravity.
